Our History

The Château de Ronchinne was built between 1884 and 1890 by Charles-Joseph Logé in the heart of the Ronchinne estate, which then covered an area of 2,500 hectares.

If you would like to know more about our history, please do not hesitate to ask us. We will be happy to share the stories that have made the estate what it is today. We also recommend 'La Balade Dominicale', a walk through the secrets and stories of the estate.

Clementine from Belgium

Since 1909, the castle was the residence of Princess Clementine of Belgium, daughter of Leopold II, and her husband Victor Napoleon Bonaparte.

It is during this period that the major work of cutting down and replanting the park according to the plan drawn by Jules Buyssens, the first landscape architect of Belgium, will take place.

The Post Office

In 1957, reduced to 42 hectares, the estate was bought by the Fonds Spécial d'Assistance aux Postiers (Special Assistance Fund for Postmen), which used the site as a holiday centre for its staff.
